John R. “Jack” Chaney, 75, of Bowerston, passed away suddenly at his home on Wednesday, December 11, 2019. Born April 22, 1944 in Dennison, he was a son of the late Kenneth Fisher Chaney and Grace Nedra (Rucker) Chaney-Rothermond. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, C. A. Rothermond; parents-in-law, Glen and Margaret Espenschied and Julia Stevens; and brother-in-law, Roger Espenschied.
On April 22, 1976, Jack married the former Pamela J. Espenschied who survives him. He is also survived by children, John (Alicia) Chaney, Denise Chaney, Tammy (Gary) Harlow, Marla Chaney, Kendra (companion, Danny Garabrandt) Jones, Machele (Ernie) Parrish, Melessa (Dwayne) Carver, and Heather Leigh Chaney; 22 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren, siblings, Joyce (companion, Charlene Edwards) Chaney, Sandra (Leo) Zorzi, Kenneth “Lucky” (Rose) Chaney, Madge Chaney, and Jane (Carl) Petterson; and many extended family members including nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
Jack had a long career as a truck driver, having been most recently employed by Vision Trucking in Millersburg after driving for Fairall Trucking in Uhrichsville for many years. He loved spending time at home, relaxing in his favorite recliner, and will be remembered for his robust sense of humor. He was a member of Cathedral of Praise in Uhrichsville.
Pastor Sandra Hall and Pastor Dale Ickes will officiate his funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 13, at the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. He will be interred with his parents at Longview Cemetery in Bowerston. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his family to help defray the cost of his final expenses.
