Inez Josephine McKibben, 88, of New Philadelphia, formerly of Tippecanoe, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Community Hospice in New Philadelphia. Born March 10, 1927 in Neffs, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late William Frederick and Eva Marie (Tongret) Kelley.
Inez was a lifelong resident of the area and a 1945 graduate of Scio High School. A longtime member of Deersville United Methodist Church, she sang in the choir, served as a Sunday School teacher and on the church board, and was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was a 10-year volunteer for Hospice of Tuscarawas County. In addition to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, she had also worked at Sears in Uhrichsville for 18 years. Inez loved cooking for her family and traveling with her friend, Dorothy Greene.
On August 26, 1945, Inez married the love of her life, Dwight V. McKibben, with whom she enjoyed nearly 48 years of marriage until his passing on September 1, 1993. They were blessed with two children, Donna Rippeth and her husband, Olin, of New Philadelphia and Robert McKibben and his wife, Ronna, both of whom preceded Inez in death. Inez is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Alan (Jo-Dee) McKibben, Becky (Craig) Taylor, Chad (Jill) Rippeth, and Jennifer (Jeff) Ring; great-grandchildren, Kortnee (Mike) Cameron, Zachary (Courtney) McKibben, Janessa and Jayden Taylor, Connor and Colin Rippeth, and Austin and Tyler Ring; great-great-grandchildren, Brody, Emmalee and Kynsee Cameron, Knox and Ellelynie McKibben, and another expected; a brother, Fred Kelly; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Easlick, as well as her parents, husband, and son.
Services for Inez, officiated by Pastor Mike Cunningham, will be held at 11am on Monday, September 21, in Deersville United Methodist Church. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband in Deersville’s Patterson-Union Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-5pm on Sunday at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her honor to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Ave. S.W., New Philadelphia, OH 44663 and Deersville United Methodist Church, 227 W.
