Inez A. Hren

August 5, 1920 — December 14, 2009

Inez A. (Nazionale) Hren, 89, of Uhrichsville, O., passed away on Monday, December 14, 2009 at Twin City Hospital in Dennison, O.

Born August 5, 1920 in Dennison, she was a daughter of the late David and Julia (Mastellarini) Nazionale.

Inez was a lifelong parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison where she was also a member of the Altar Society. She was a graduate of Immaculate Conception School in the class of 1940 and, in recent years, had been a volunteer server with the Breakfast for Children Program at Immaculate Conception Elementary.

On May 10, 1950, Inez married Francis J. “Frank” Hren, Jr. with whom she enjoyed thirty-nine years of marriage until his passing on September 17, 1989. They are survived by two sons: Joseph A. Hren of Uhrichsville and Robert W. (Lisa) Hren of Port Washington; a daughter, Loretta M. (Paul) Walker of New Philadelphia; four grandchildren: Rene (Phillip) Taylor, Steven (Carla) Reffett, Louie Hren, and Emma Hren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by a brother, Joseph D. Nazionale of Dennison, as well as a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Nazionale; three brothers: Mario, William, and Leo Nazionale; a granddaughter, Tina (Reffett) Taylor; and a nephew whom she had raised like a son, Michael Nazionale who died in the military service of his country.

Inez was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker who had also worked for a number of area businesses, including Rome’s Grocery Store in Dennison where she had been a clerk for ten years, Nazionale’s Gulf Service Station in Uhrichsville as their bookkeeper for fifteen years, Tiny’s Inn of Dennison, and Uhrichsville Eagles Aerie #2264, until her retirement in 1988. She was also a volunteer with AARP Charter 4780 in the Twin City area.

Inez was a fantastic cook who loved spending time in the kitchen and treating her family and friends to delicious meals, including her fresh, homemade pasta. In her spare time she enjoyed playing cards, especially with her friends in the Canasta Club she had belonged to for many years.

Services for Inez, officiated by Father Anthony Lonzo, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 19, in Immaculate Conception Church at Dennison. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband in St. Mary’s Cemetery near Dennison.

Family and friends are invited to call at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Those wishing to honor Inez’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Immaculate Conception Church’s Memorial Book Fund.
