Ina Pearl Simpson

Ina Pearl (Liggett) Simpson, 93, of Dennison, O., passed away on March 21, 2009 at Beacon Pointe Rehabilitation Center in Uhrichsville, O.

Born October 20, 1915 in Dennison, she was a daughter of the late Robert Roy and Hazel (Cunard) Liggett.

A graduate of Dennison High School in the class of 1933, Ina Pearl was a lifelong resident of the Twin City area and a longtime member of the Uhrichsville First United Methodist Church and its choir. Ina Pearl was a member of Park and Prosperity Grange for nearly eighty years, having joined at the age of 14. She had also been active in 4-H as a former advisor, the Farm Bureau and its Advisory Council #5, the Tuscarawas County Home Demonstration and Homemakers, the Union Township Homemakers, Homemakers Women’s Camp and the Big Bend Sewing Club. She was also a gifted musician who played the piano and organ, especially loved to sing, and was a member of the former Twin City Music Study Club.

Ina Pearl was a devoted and loving wife, mother and homemaker. She spent many happy years working on her family farm and dearly loved milking her cows and tending to her gardens, having been well known for her delicious sweet corn.

On October 20, 1935, Ina Pearl married Jasper Earl Simpson with whom she enjoyed over fifty-five years of marriage until his passing on January 1, 1991. They are survived by a son, Robert W. Simpson and his wife, Linda, of Dennison.

Ina Pearl is also survived by her brother, Willard Liggett, and his wife, Ruth, of Dennison, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Services for Ina Pearl, officiated by Rev. John W. Clark, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, in Uhrichsville First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.

Family and friends are invited to call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Those wishing to honor Ina Pearl’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Uhrichsville First United Methodist Church.
