Herbert Lee Hampton, known by all as Lee, passed away at the age of 94 in his Uhrichsville, Ohio home on Thursday, October 30, 2025. Born April 14, 1931 in Coshocton County, Ohio, he was a son of the late Boyce and Lydia Pearl (Watson) Hampton.

Lee grew up in West Lafayette, Ohio where he was a 1949 graduate of West Lafayette High School. He later furthered his education at DeVry University in Columbus, Ohio. Lee enjoyed a long career as a service engineer for Westinghouse Power Generation, often at the Conesville, Ohio plant. Lee was also a member of the Scottish Rite 32nd Degree and was a Shriner.

Lee was an avid fisherman who looked forward to his annual trips to Red Lake, Ontario to fish with friends. He also loved watching NASCAR races and had attended many with his buddies over the years, including several Daytona 500s. Each summer, he loved spending time camping at Forest Hill Lake. He will be remembered by his friends from the various social clubs where he belonged, including the Dennison Eagles, Uhrichsville Eagles, New Philadelphia Elks, and Uhrichsville Moose where he was currently a member, and he had formerly been an auxiliary member of the Tuscarawas V.F.W. and member of the Dennison American Italian Club.

Lee will be deeply missed by his surviving family which includes his fiancée, Linda West; daughters, Carol Hampton and Cheryl (Warren) Peiter; adopted daughters, Cathy (Timothy) Hawkins, Sherry (Robert II) Marty, and Cindy Hervey; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his sister, Betty Ruth (Will) Hampton Apitz; several nieces and nephews; and a host of dear friends, including Doug West and Ron Carman with whom he was especially close. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley I. (Carpenter) Hampton who died on April 10, 1997; his son, Steven Lee Hampton; and his brother, John W. Hampton.
