Helen Mae Haney, 73, of Uhrichsville, passed away at her home while surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 after a bravely fought battle with cancer over the last 6 ½ years. A lifelong resident of the Twin City area, Helen attended Dennison High School and was a longtime member of Uhrichsville Foursquare Gospel Church. She was employed as a nurses’ aide by several area nursing homes and enjoyed playing bingo and cards in her spare time. Above all else, Helen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker who cherished the time that she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

On January 4, 1956, she married Benjamin Cleveland Haney, Sr. who survives her at their home. She is also survived by their 4 children, Dorothy (Brad) Applegarth, Rick (Dorothy Millard) Haney and Benjamin (Rose) Haney, Jr. of Uhrichsville and Mike (Tammy) Haney of Dennison; 7 grandchildren, Tonia, Tara, Clint, Kimberly, Misty, Jason and Kayla; 9 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Her family is completed by her sisters, Linda Famal of Uhrichsville and Patricia (Bud) Jones of Uhrichsville; brothers, Chester (Barb) Orr and Ed (Sherry) Orr of Gnadenhutten; brother-in-law, Sam Kopp of Canton; sister-in-law, Shirley Orr of Dennison; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph “Bud” Orr; sisters, Janice Keith and Shirley Kopp; and brothers-in-law, Ben Keith and Johnny Famal.

Services for Helen, officiated by Pastor Florence McNutt, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison.
