Helen V. Gibbs, 89, of 1045 Grand Avenue, Orange City, Fla., passed away peacefully on Monday, November 23, 2009 at the Hospice Care Center in Orange City.

Born September 29, 1920 in Dennison, O., she was a daughter of the late Albert Z. and Sarah Ann (Moffet) Lynn.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-four years, Charles H. Gibbs, to whom she was married on August 1, 1938. He passed away on September 10, 2002.

Helen and Charles are survived by two sons, Charles E. Gibbs and his wife, Linda, of Punta Gorda, Fla. and Jeffrey L. Gibbs and his wife, Linda, of Orange City, Fla.; a daughter, Ellen L. Fox of North Augusta, S.C.; nine grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

A resident of Florida for the past fifteen years, Helen had previously lived in Uhrichsville for most of her life. She was a graduate of Midvale High School in the class of 1938. While living in Florida, she was a member of First United Methodist Church of Deltona; locally, she had been a member of Uhrichsville First United Methodist Church.

Helen retired from F.B. Maurer Market after sixteen years of service. One of Helen’s favorite pastimes was playing cards with her family and friends.

Services for Helen, officiated by Rev. Harry Milligan, will be held at noon on Saturday, November 28, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband in New Philadelphia’s Evergreen Burial Park. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until noon on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that memorial contributions be made to the Hospice of Volusia Flagler, c/o West Volusia Care Center, 1625 Veterans Memorial Parkway, Orange City, FL 32763.
