Helen Elizabeth Ashleman, 93, of Uhrichsville passed away on March 1, 2019 at the Inn at Northwood Village in Dover. Born April 25, 1925 she was a daughter of the late Herman Joseph and Helen Catherine “Nellie” (Caniff) Oberholzer.
Helen was a 1942 St. Mary’s High School graduate and was a bookkeeper for Center Supply in Midvale. She loved watching both Notre Dame and Ohio State University Football and Basketball, enjoyed bowling in a league for many years and was an avid reader. Helen was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison and was active in the Altar Society.
On February 5, 1947 she married James Earl Ashleman who preceded her in death on August 4, 1971. They are survived by their children, Susan (Larry) Mosher, John (Pam) Ashleman and Ann (Bill) Ress; grandchildren, Greg (Jenifer) Ress, Doug (Ulla) Ress, Ryan (Adrian) Ress, Natalie (Chad) Schie, Matt Mosher, Ashley McKenzie, and Matt (Charlotte) Schaar; and great-grandchildren, Reagan, Rachel, Julia, and Kaylee Ress, Riley and Caden Schie, and Ruby and Colt Schaar; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she is preceded in death by her siblings, Susie Hollyoak and John “Jack” Oberholzer, nephew, Scott Oberholzer; and grandson, Brian Schaar.
Father Jeff Coning will celebrate a funeral Mass on Tuesday, March 5 at 10am in Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison with burial following in St. Mary’s Cemetery near Dennison. Visitation will be on Monday from 4pm to 7pm at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Memorial donations may be made to Immaculate Conception Church and Altar Society.
