Harry L. Hargrave

Harry Louis Hargrave, 84, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., formerly of Dennison, died Sunday, April 10, 2011. Born November 18, 1926 in Cadiz, Ohio, he was a son of the late Raymond and Dorothy (Patterson) Hargrave.

On May 18, 1974, he married the former Betty J. (Robinson) Lehigh with whom he enjoyed thirty-six years of marriage. He is also survived by his beloved sister, Nancy Faye Hargrave of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; a son, Robert (Meredith) Hargrave of Tallahassee, Fla.; daughters, Patricia (Mark) Franks of Boynton Beach, Fla., Pamela (Andrew) Scarborough of Denver, Colo., and Susan Tischbein of Chico, Calif.; and two grandchildren, Zachary Tischbein of New York, N.Y. and Zoe Tischbein of Chico, Calif.

A resident of the Twin City area in his youth, Harry was a graduate of Dennison High School in the class of 1945. After high school, he served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the Army Band, playing the French horn. He then furthered his education at Ohio University. Harry was a sales manager for U.S. Concrete Co. where he worked for sixty years until his retirement in 2007. He was a member of the United Underground Contractors Association of Florida and the Elks. He was Methodist by faith. In his spare time, Harry enjoyed woodworking in his workshop.

Services for Harry, officiated by Rev. John W. Clark, will be held at noon on Saturday, April 16, in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Prior to the graveside service, family and friends may call at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Those wishing to honor Harry’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Southeast Florida Hospice, 309 S.E. 18th St., Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33316.
