Harmon Winslow “Skip” Ling, 82, of Bowerston, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2019, at Sunnyslope Nursing Home in Bowerston. Born April 26, 1937 in Portland, Maine, he was the only child of the late Roderick James and Pauline (Winslow) Ling.
Skip proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1956 to 1976, retiring at the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was then employed as a civilian by the Department of Defense for 21 years. He was a member of the V.F.W., having served as post commander and district commander, and he also belonged to the American Legion, D.A.V., Air Force Sergeants’ Association, Masterblasters Association and M.O.C. for many years. A resident of Bowerston for over 20 years, he had served as a councilman, past council president and former mayor of the village.
In 1998, Skip married his longtime love, the former Patricia A. Thomas, who survives him. He is also survived by stepdaughters, Vickie Anno and Tamara (Robert) Stout; stepson, Edwin Anno; and many step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.
According to his wishes, interment in Arlington National Cemetery will take place following cremation. Those wishing to honor his memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to any charity for the benefit of veterans.
