Grace P. Parker-Mccray

Grace P. Parker-McCray, 101, of Dover, passed away on Saturday, July 14, 2018, at Country Club Retirement Campus in Dover. Born August 29, 1916 in Unionport, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Roy Layton and Mary Alice (Maffit) Parker.

Grace was a resident of the Sarasota and Bradenton, Florida area since 1956, having previously resided in the Twin City area where she worked for the City Auto. While living in Florida, she was employed by W.T. Grant and loved her job as a “lunch lady” for Sarasota County Schools.

On July 7, 1962, she married Joseph Edward McCray with whom she enjoyed nearly 18 years of marriage until his passing on August 30, 1980. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Dean, Carl and Glenn Parker; sisters, June Parker, Betty McNely and Bonnie Bond; and stepsons, Fred and Chuck McCray. Her surviving family includes her sister, Doris LeMonte; sister-in-law, Florence Parker; stepdaughter, Ferrel Zeimer; several nieces and nephews; and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

Services, officiated by Pastor Michael O’Guin, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 19, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Ave. S.W., New Philadelphia, OH  44663.
