Gloria Jean Staten

Gloria Jean Staten, 71, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Friday, September 12, 2014 at Trinity West Medical Center in Steubenville, after a lengthy illness. Born April 16, 1943 in Jewett, she was a daughter of the late James and Lena (Dickerson) Stull. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Eugene Drabic; second husband, Merlin “Carbite” Staten; and brothers, Jimmy and Louis Stull.

A resident of the Twin City area since 1966, Gloria was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was a former member of the Uhrichsville Moose and Eagles Ladies’ Auxiliaries who loved playing bingo and listening to old-fashioned country music.

Gloria is survived by a daughter, Carolyn (Paul) Smith of Martins Ferry; sons: Richard (companion, Sandie) Drabic of Uhrichsville, Michael Drabic of Florida, Virgil (Mary) Drabic of Arkansas, Shawn Lendon of Uhrichsville and Allen (Theresa) Staten of Canton; stepchildren: Kennith (Ruth) Staten, Marsha (Larry) Shisler, Kevin (Tracy) Staten and Margaret Staten; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; sisters: Linda (Chuck) Bennett of New Alexander and Louise Haines of West Lafayette; many nieces and nephews; and her canine companions: Pepe and Rosita.

Services, officiated by Pastor Tom Klaserner, will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 17, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Burial will take place on a later date. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
