Gloria Gertrude Sentz

Gloria Gertrude Sentz, 84, of Uhrichsville, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2012 at Union Hospital in Dover, Ohio, after a lengthy illness. Born September 11, 1927 in Dennison, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Laken Paul “Jack” Coverdale and Gertrude Elizabeth (Craft) Coverdale-Shaffer.

A 1946 graduate of Dennison High School, Gloria was an LPN who owned and operated Sentz’s Midvale Nursing Home and the Twin City Nursing Home. She was also an administrator for South Broadway Nursing Home, Charity Nursing Home and Dove Nursing Home, as well as being the plant nurse for East Sparta Ceramics for a number of years. She was a member of the Professional Business Women’s Association in Dover/New Philadelphia, The Woodcarvers’ Association, and the Historical Society. She was a member of Leesville Faith Community Chapel who enjoyed quilting, woodcarving, painting, reading, bowling and volunteering at Schoenbrunn Historical Village.

On April 1, 1946, Gloria married George Tony Sentz with whom she enjoyed over forty-two years of marriage until his passing on June 2, 1984. They are survived by three children, Steve A. (Marlene) Sentz of Gnadenhutten, Kandi K. (Jim) Darrah of Bowerston and Richard P. (Diane) Sentz of Uhrichsville; eleven grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter. Gloria is also survived by her sister, Roberta Littman of Canton; brother, Thaddeus Coverdale of Texas; numerous nieces and nephews; and many dear friends, including a special friend, Evelyn Dooley of Uhrichsville. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, David George Sentz; brothers, Jack, Paul, Bill and Chuck Coverdale; and a great-grandson. Gloria’s family wish to extend their deep gratitude to the staff at Park Village whom Gloria considered to be her extended family.

Services for Gloria, officiated by Pastor Doug McFadden, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 28, at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday.
