Gerald V. "Jerry" Doney

Gerald V. “Jerry” Doney, 58, of Uhrichsville, formerly of St. Augustine, FL, passed away Saturday, February 19, 2011 at Aultman Hospital in Canton following complications from heart surgery. Born May 22, 1952 at Dennison, he was a son of Helen J. (Fairless) Doney of Uhrichsville and the late Edward J. Doney.

Jerry was a 1970 graduate of Claymont High School and a member of Immaculate Conception Church at Dennison. Following high school, Jerry went to work for George Myers and Associates in Cuyahoga Falls as a junior grade industrial engineer in time study. Most recently, Jerry had worked in distribution in the tourism and travel industry for Market America and had also worked for Sugarcreek Industries. Jerry was an avid sports fan, especially enjoying Cleveland Browns football and Cleveland Cavaliers basketball. Jerry’s family and friends will always remember his jokes and sense of humor.

In addition to his mother, Helen J. Doney, Jerry is survived by his brother, Christopher Doney of Palm Coast, FL, and numerous cousins.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Edward J. Doney, his sister in law, Stephanie Doney, and several aunts and uncles.

In keeping with his wishes, Jerry will be cremated and a memorial mass for him will be held at Immaculate Conception Church at 10:00 am on Thursday, February 24, 2011, with Father Anthony Lonzo officiating.

Those wishing to honor Jerry’s memory with a memorial contribution are encouraged to do so to the Immaculate Conception Church’s memorial book or cemetery fund.
