George R. Watson

March 15, 1935 — February 21, 2015

George R. Watson, 79, of Uhrichsville, passed away at Community Hospice House on February 21, 2015 following a period of declining health thus joining his parents and daughter, Sandra. Born March 15, 1935 in Uhrichsville, he was a son of the late Raymond W. and Hazel L. (Oler) Watson. A life resident of the area, George was a 1953 graduate of Uhrichsville High School.
George had worked for both Montgomery Ward and Hecks department stores as well as being the owner and proprietor of George’s Old 250 Inn at Midvale. George enjoyed trips to area casinos and his daily coffee camaraderie.
George is survived by his daughters, Cheryl Watson of Uhrichsville and Susan (John) Diegmiller of Gnadenhutten; grandsons, Jeffrey L. Hupp, Jr. and David B. Diegmiller; great grandchildren, Austin, Sasha, Siya, and Sara; grand kitties, “Tinker” and “Sissy”; former wife, Barbara Watkins; and special friend, Mae Walters.
George’s family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Beacon Point Rehabilitation Center, Trinity Hospital Twin City, and Community Hospice House for the kind and thoughtful care they provided throughout the last months of his life. With George having passed on his daughter, Cheryl’s birthday, she found particular solace in the uplifting sentiments provided by his caregiver in those final moments.
Services for George, officiated by Pastor Scot Caley, will be held Thursday February 26, 2015 at 1 pm in the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 11-1 pm at the funeral home.
Those wishing to honor George’s memory are encouraged to do so to the aforementioned nonprofits.
We love you Dad; you always looked out for us. We’ll be awaiting those postcards from your glorious journey.
