Gene Autry Huff, 68, of Bowerston, O., formerly of Port Washington, O., died Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at Trinity West Medical Center in Steubenville, O., following a brief illness.

Born December 20, 1941 in Washington Twp., Carroll Co., O., he was a son of the late Donald Blaine and Margaret Myrtle (Sides) Huff.

Gene was a retired truck driver who had worked for Northstar Asphalt for many years until his retirement in 2003. He loved camping, fishing and being outdoors, and was a member of Frogtown Campground where he enjoyed many happy hours with his family and friends.

His surviving family includes four children, Edward G. Huff and his wife, Robin, of Port Washington, Laurie Lane of Canton, Linda Huff and her fiance, John Davis, of Newcomerstown, and Ronald L. Huff of Newcomerstown; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; his longtime companion, Betty Ash of Bowerston; and two aunts, Jessie Grezlik of Bowerston and Lydia J. Mansfield of Scio.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Lee (Nalley) Huff, and his son-in-law, Douglas Lane.

Services for Gene, officiated by Pastor Shawn Archer, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 30, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Interment will follow in Bowerston’s Longview Cemetery.

Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to Gene’s family, in care of the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home, to help defray the cost of his final expenses.
