Gary R. Nichols

Gary Ross Nichols, 82, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Monday, February 28, 2022, at the Community Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia. Born June 23, 1939 in Stock Twp. in Harrison County, Ohio, he was a son of the late John D. and Iris Lucille (Garey) Nichols.

Gary was a graduate of Madison High School before beginning his long career as a truck driver for several area firms, including Reno, Hooker’s, Baker’s, and Gribble Trucking Companies. He was a member of the New Philadelphia and Tuscarawas V.F.W. Posts, the Eagles, the Moose, and the AIC who enjoyed playing cards and was an avid fan of football, NASCAR, and golf. Most of all he loved spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

On June 30, 1962, Gary married Grace Ann Sandra (Seese) Nichols who survives him at their home. He is also survived by their 7 children, Christine Kimble, Gary (Janet) Nichols, Jr., James Nichols, Beverly (David) Cox, Jackie (Eric) Gribble, Jane Nichols, and Melissa (Henry) Sanders; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Charles (Ginger) Nichols and Dwight Nichols; sister, Janie (Donald) Knight; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his great-grandson, Theodore Edward Crites; son-in-law, Harold Kimble; and brothers, Victor Nichols, John Nichols, Conrad Nichols, and Wilson Nichols.

Pastor John Stevenson will officiate a 1:00 p.m. funeral on Friday, March 4, at the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison where visitation will be for two hours prior to the service. He will be interred in Deersville’s Patterson Union Cemetery on a future date. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Ave. S.W., New Philadelphia, OH  44663.
