Gary Wayne Lamp, 73, of Uhrichsville, Ohio, passed away at his home with his loving family at his side on Friday, October 16, 2026. Born March 16, 1953 in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, he was a son of the late Lee and Evelyn Marie (née Jeffers) Lamp.
A Tuscarawas County resident for the past 32 years, Gary will be remembered for his remarkable skill as a mechanic. He was employed locally by Parkway Auto in Dennison for a number of years before working at NAPA Auto Parts in Uhrichsville. He had also been a driver for Stocker Trucking. In retirement, he spent countless hours tinkering in his shop – fixing an astounding variety of things for family, friends, and neighbors. He was also a talented guitar player who had played professionally in his younger years, but enjoyed making music throughout his life. Gary was an Army veteran who had proudly served his country from 1975 to 1978. He earned the rank of Sergeant as a combat engineer.
Gary was a man of deep faith who loved the Lord and was a faithful member of the Uhrichsville Church of the Nazarene. He leaves behind his church family who lovingly supported him with countless visits during his final illness, including Pastors Kirsten and Andrew Kohr.
On August 16, 1984, Gary married Dana M. (née Gould) Lamp who survives him at their home after celebrating 42 years of loving marriage this summer. He is also survived by their children, Lee Lamp, Beth (companion, Adam McLaughlin) Hill, April (Tim) Simon, Sheri (Steve) Simmons, and Dawn (companion, Robbie Frye) Schutte; grandchildren, Jackson, Haylee, Charlee, Sayje, William, Emma, Kelsi, Jarret, Timothy, and Matthew; and great-grandson, Cillian with another great-grandchild expected. His sisters, Teresa and Brenda; brothers, James, Larry, and Chuck; and numerous nieces and nephews complete his surviving family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ronnie, and his uncle, Curtis.
According to Gary’s wishes, cremation is planned without a public visitation. His family will hold a memorial service and celebration of his life at Uhrichsville Church of the Nazarene on a future date. This website will be updated when details are confirmed. Those wishing to honor his memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, in lieu of flowers.
