Frieda A. Rogers, 92, of New Philadelphia, O., passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2009 in Tuscarawas County, O., following a lengthy illness.

Born December 24, 1916 in Dennison, O., she was a daughter of the late Peter and Johanna (Naber) Schulte.

Frieda was the loving wife of William A. Rogers, having been married on February 22, 1941. They enjoyed over thirty-two years of marriage together until his passing on April 29, 1973, and were blessed with two children, John Alvin Rogers of Tucson, Az. and Edith Arlene Santee and her husband, John, of Dover; two grandchildren, Matthew M. Lawver of Tuscarawas and Sarah Kosmala and her husband, Ray, of North Canton; and three great grandchildren, Gabriel, Jacob and Zachary Kosmala. She is survived by three nieces, Johanna R. Jones of Webster, Fla., Patty Wright of Uhrichsville, and Marsha Rafael of Gnadenhutten, as well.

In addition to her parents and husband, Frieda was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Rebecca Anne Lawver, and a sister, Clara Marburger.

A lifelong resident of Tuscarawas County, Frieda was a graduate of Uhrichsville High School in the class of 1934 and was a past member of Sharon Moravian Church in Tuscarawas. She enjoyed caring for her plants and her pets.

Frieda retired from the New Philadelphia Post Office where she had been the first female worker, having been a letter carrier and postal worker.

A graveside service for Frieda, officiated by Rev. Allen Bergmann, will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. in Sharon Moravian Church Cemetery. Those wishing to honor her memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Sharon Moravian Church and Hospice of Tuscarawas County.
