Franklin R. Golec

Franklin Robert Golec, age 77, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 2, 2023, from his home. Born June 29, 1946 in Dennison, Frank was a son of the late Francis Robert and Sophie Elizabeth (McCluskey) Golec.

Frank graduated from Dennison High School in 1964 and worked at Greer Steel as a slitterman. He was a member of the A.I.C. and Dennison Eagles and was an avid Browns, Indians, and Buckeye’s fan. He enjoyed golfing, spending time with his family, and walking his dog, Tucker.

Frank is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Sue “Sandy” (Cavanaugh) whom he married June 12, 1965; three sons, Scott (Terrie) Golec, Frank (Mecca) Golec, and Shaun (Celeste) Golec; his grandchildren, Zach (Darcie) Golec, Caitlyn Hutchinson, Kyrsten (Nick) Lyons, Courtney (Geoff) Thompson, Shauna Golec, Austin Golec, Christian Newsome, Rochelle (Eric) Seibert, Daniel (Nikki) Grove, Jeffrey (Torie) Grove, Lucas (Julie) Grove, Kaitlyn (Noah) Rosenblatt, Seth (Amy) McMath, Ronald Borne, II, and Bryce Borne; many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; sisters, Rose (Steve) Wanosick, Barb (Don, deceased) Eickleberry and Karen (Ernie, deceased) Jamerson; brothers, Don (Janet) Golec, Roy (Sharon) Golec, and Jim (Debbie) Golec; and in-laws, Jackie (Fred) Smith, Bonnie (Bob) Sparkman, and William (Betty) Cavanaugh.

In keeping with Frank’s wishes, cremation is planned without a public visitation. His family will celebrate his life privately with a memorial service, officiated by Pastor Mike O’Guin, at Strait Gate Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice.
