Frank Dudziak

January 9, 1920 — June 3, 2009

Frank Dudziak, 89, of Dennison, O., passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center in Canton, O., after a short illness.

Born in Maynard, O. on January 9, 1920, he was a son of the late Joseph and Rose (Waksmund) Dudziak.

A graduate of Uhrichsville High School in 1937, Frank made the Twin City area his home for his entire life with the exception of the years when he was in the service of his country as a soldier in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison.

His career in the local clay industry began at the Dennison Clay Mine, followed by the Dennison Sewerpipe Plant. He then worked at Superior Clay (the former Evans Clay) for many years until his retirement in the mid 80’s.

Frank was a quiet and gentle man who loved spending time with his family, especially enjoying his frequent outings with his grandson. He was also an avid supporter of Cleveland’s professional sports teams who loved to root on the Indians, Browns and Cavaliers.

On November 4, 1940, Frank married the former Viola T. Visintainer with whom he enjoyed nearly fifty-seven years of marriage until her passing on September 24, 1997. They were blessed with a son, Terry Dudziak and his wife, Christine, of Dover; a grandson, Shawn Dudziak and his wife, Terri, of New Philadelphia; a granddaughter, Shelly Bigler and her husband, Brian, of Dover; and two great grandsons, Blake and Breckin Bigler.

Frank is also survived by a brother, Stanley Dudziak and his wife, Beatrice, of Lorain, O. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary DeFaszio, Rose McGlyn and Ann Jagielskie, and two brothers, John and Andrew Dudziak.

Services for Frank, officiated by Father Martin J. Ralko, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, in Immaculate Conception Church. Interment will follow beside his beloved wife in St. Mary’s Cemetery near Dennison.

Family and friends are invited to call at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday until the funeral leaves for the church shortly before 10:00 a.m. Those wishing to honor Frank’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the Immaculate Conception Church Capital Campaign.
