Francis M. "Sonny" Davis

Francis M. “Sonny” Davis, 86, of Dennison, passed away on Friday, April 24, 2015, at Trinity Hospital Twin City in Dennison, after a period of declining health. Born September 14, 1928 in Dennison, he was a son of the late Francis M. and Gertrude C. (Reardon) Davis.

A lifelong resident of Dennison, Sonny was a 1946 graduate of Dennison High School who served in the Army from 1950-1952. He retired from Michigan Sewerpipe. Sonny was a longtime member of the Dennison Eagles, Uhrichsville Elks, and Canton F. & A.M., and a founding member of the Hey Jack Sportsman’s Club. He loved to sing and would frequently be heard singing or whistling a tune. Sonny took great pride in his home, which was his castle.

Sonny is survived by his wife, Ida M. (Cervellini) Davis whom he married June 23, 1962; nieces and nephews, Karen (Tim) Fox, Jerry (wife, Ruth, deceased) Belknap, Duane Belknap, Kathy (Russ) Ashkettle, and Mike (Holly) Cervellini; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn “Maxine” (Ray) Belknap, and a nephew, Dave Belknap.

Services for Francis, officiated by Father Anthony Lonzo, will be held at 1pm on Monday, April 27, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery near Dennison. Visitation will be 2-5pm on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Church and Immaculate Conception Elementary.
