Frances V. Bear, 94, of Dennison, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 28, 2009. Born March 21, 1915 at Tippecanoe, she was a daughter of the late Everette and Etna Hines.
A life resident of our area, Frances graduated salutatorian of the Uhrichsville H.S. Class of 1935. Frances was a longtime member of the Park Christian Church in Dennison where she had been a Sunday School Teacher and a member of Phoebe’s Friends. Frances loved to travel and had many fond memories of trips with her family and friends. In addition to being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Frances worked as a meat cutter for both the former F.B. Maurer and Stolls grocery stores, and during WWII, Frances held the job of her husband at the Timken Roller Bearings Plant while he served his country in the U.S Army.
On October 26, 1938, Frances married James E. Bear who preceded her in death on November 30, 1986. Frances’s surviving family includes two sons and a daughter, Greg Bear, Doug and wife Mary Bear, and Carol and husband Bill Johnson, all of Westchester; five grandchildren, Christopher McKay, Eric Bear, Matthew Bear, Andrew Bear, and Rachel Bear; and many nieces and nephews, including devoted nieces Laverne Bear and Marilyn Rogers.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Frances was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Tom, and Halstead Hines, and four sisters, Hazel Hines, Blanche Burdette, Daisy Ruble, and Grace Hodkinson.
Family and friends are invited to call at visitation for Frances from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 in the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. A funeral service, conducted by Pastor Scot Caley will be held Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at 11:00 am in the funeral home. Internment will follow at Freeport Greenmont Union Cemetery. Those wishing to honor Frances’s memory with a memorial donation are encouraged to do so to the Park Christian Church, 236 Miller Ave., Dennison, OH 44621.
