Flora V. Bridgeman

Flora V. (Visintainer) Bridgeman, 96, entered this world on April 20th, 1913 in Stillwater, O., and entered the next world, peacefully, on March 21, 2010 from Park Village Health Care Center in Dover, O.

She was a daughter of the late Victor and Emma (DeCarnelli) Visintainer and a lifelong resident of Dennison. A devout Catholic, she was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison and its Altar Society. For many years, she was the proprietor of her family’s grocery and gas station, Visintainer’s General Store in Dennison, and was a devoted wife and homemaker, as well.

On February 8, 1947, Flora was married to Harvey Addison Bridgeman, Jr. with whom she celebrated over sixty years of loving marriage until his passing on June 22, 2007. They were preceded in death by an infant daughter, Patricia.

In addition to her parents, husband, and daughter, Flora was also preceded in death by a brother, William Visintainer; two sisters, Carmella Sattoria and Edith Peters; and a dear niece, Heather (Gardner) Starcher.

Her surviving family includes nephews, Melvin Peters and his wife, Terri, of Uhrichsville, Jack Sattoria of New Philadelphia, and David Bridgeman of California; nieces, Rebecca Gardner and her husband, Robert, of Akron, Maxine Edwards of New Philadephia, and Linda Woodin of New York; and many other extended family members.

Flora lived a full and rich life “every day”, persevering through illness, loss, and heartache, all while showering her many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews with love, strength and that hearty laughter that they will carry with them always.

Services for Flora, officiated by Father Matt Hoover, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 25, in Immaculate Conception Church. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband in St. Mary’s Cemetery near Dennison.

Family and friends are invited to call at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday during which time a Christian Wake Service with eulogy will be held beginning at 7:30 p.m.
