Evelyn “Jane” McQuaid, 95, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Beacon Pointe Rehabilitation Center in Uhrichsville after a period of declining health. Born January 25, 1918 in Dover Twp. near Adrian, Michigan, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Dora Johnston.
Jane grew up in Fayette, Ohio and was a graduate of Fayette High School in the class of 1935. On September 7, 1944, she was united in marriage with Robert McQuaid with whom she spent over fifty-seven happy years until his passing in November of 2001. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker who will be lovingly remembered for her beautiful sewing and crocheting. She loved spending time with her family and especially enjoyed their many trips together for fishing in Canada and to Florida in her later years. A resident of the Twin City area for many years, she was a longtime member of Uhrichsville First United Methodist Church. She will also be remembered by many who knew her for her work in the office of Tusco Grocers, beginning in 1954, and later for the office at Ferris Chevrolet for a number of years.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Judson McQuaid; a step-grandson, Greg Morris; sisters, Mary and Madeline; and brothers, Rex, Robert and her twin Judson. She is survived by a son, William (Vinnie) McQuaid of Uhrichsville; a daughter-in-law, Dora McQuaid of Dennison; grandchildren, Lori (Matt) Elvin of Strasburg, Lisa (Adam) Karam of Dover, Michael McQuaid of Uhrichsville and Greg (Dana) McQuaid of Uhrichsville; great-grandchildren, Breeanna, Anthony and Morgan Karam, Zachary, Michael and Hope McQuaid, and Kara Cleeton; great-great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Layne Cleeton; step-grandchildren, Shelly (John) Boyd, Pam Morris and Doug (Liz) Morris; step-great-grandchildren, Laurel (Nate) Stokey, Derek Chumney, Johnathan, Meganne and Braden Boyd, and Max and Maddie Morris; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Jane’s wishes, she has been cremated without a public service or visitation. A private family service is planned. She will be interred beside her beloved husband in Ridgecrest Memory Garden in Dover. Those wishing to honor her memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
