Eugene “Doug” Spacht, 63, of Gnadenhutten, Ohio, passed away suddenly on Monday, Feb. 13, 2012 at Trinity Hospital Twin City in Dennison, Ohio. Born May 3, 1948 in Morgantown, W. Va., he was a son of Gladys (Hixenbaugh) Spacht of Lakeland, Pa. and the late Herbert Douglas Spacht.
Doug was a resident of the Gnadenhutten area since 1995 and had been a truck driver for many years. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1966. On December 31, 1991, he married the former Kimberly A. Bowers who survives him at their home. He is also survived by a son, Douglas Ray Spacht and his wife, Joy; a stepdaughter, Lyrae Cox; grandsons, Douglas Spacht, Jr. and Darrin Spacht; step grandchildren, Jarae, Aarin and Jacob; brothers, Brian and Gary Spacht; sister, Pamela Spacht Durant; father-in-law, Glenn Bowers; brother-in-law, Gregory Bowers; and a number of nieces and nephews, including special nieces, Candy Bowers Hall and her husband, Paul, and Christine Bowers Lambis and her husband, Paul, all of the home. He will also be sadly missed by many dear friends.
In keeping with Doug’s wishes, he has been cremated without a public visitation. Memorial services are planned for a later date.
