Eugene D. "Geno" Maleski

August 25, 1950 — November 6, 2014

Eugene “Geno” Maleski, 64, passed away November 6, 2014 due to complications during hip surgery following an accident on the family farm. He was born August 25, 1950 in Dennison, Ohio, to the late Edward and Jenny (Gavel) Maleski. Geno is survived by his wife of 43 years, Cynthia (Milarcik) Maleski whom he married on Sept. 11, 1971, and his daughters, Joyce Maleski of Powell, Ohio, and Colleen Maleski of Nashville, Tennessee. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Edward “Doc” Maleski.

Geno was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Lakeland High School in 1968. A mechanic and car salesman, he was known for his ability to fix anything. He had a passion for MG convertibles and was a member of the Central Ohio MG Owners Club and the Jaguar Clubs of North America. Geno and Cindy would often take MG rides to car shows, auctions, and destinations across Ohio and Pennsylvania. He was the owner of Geno’s Carryout in Tippecanoe for 17 years and was famous for his chicken and ribs, a staple at his Polish parties and Ohio State tailgates. He enjoyed working on the farm and mowing the lawn. Geno was dedicated to his community and will be remembered for his thoughtfulness and support for others.

Visitation will be held Sunday, Nov. 9, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison with a Vigil Service held at 4:45 p.m. at the close of visitation. Funeral services, officiated by Rev. Frederick Kihm, will be held at St. Matthias Church in Freeport on Monday, Nov. 10, at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment at Greenmont Cemetery in Freeport. Following the burial, friends and family are invited to celebrate Geno’s life at the Washington Township Fire Station, 81125 Gardner Rd., Tippecanoe. Memorial donations may be made to the Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department.

Geno’s family knows that everyone has a “Geno story,” and they would like to compile a book of these memories. Those attending the visitation or service are encouraged to write their favorite stories and bring them for the family to enjoy in the days ahead as they continue to celebrate his life and memory.
