Ethel Mae Wright, 86, of Newcomerstown, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at Care Center of Coshocton after a period of declining health. Born February 19, 1925 in Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Gertrude Markel.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, Ethel loved spending time with her family and will be fondly remembered for her delicious homemade cooking. She loved to play the harmonica, which was something that she had taught herself, and she was also an avid walker. Ethel was a woman of faith who looked forward to going to church at the Newcomerstown Church of God each Sunday.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Roy Scott Wease; her second husband, Leonard T. Wright; and all of her siblings, including Helen Biggs. She is survived by five children, Roy Jay (Jane) Wease of Uhrichsville, Stella (Roger) Ross of Newcomerstown, Bonnie Wright of Newcomerstown, David Wright of Salem, O., and Robert Wright of Newcomerstown; a dear friend whom she loved like a daughter, Mary A. (Donald) Sockman and her children and grandchildren whom Ethel considered to be her own; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; eleven great great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Services for Ethel will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 5, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Interment will follow in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, prior to the funeral service. Those wishing to honor Ethel’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the Newcomerstown Church of God.
