Esther Marie Butler

Esther Marie Butler, 89, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at Schoenbrunn Healthcare in New Philadelphia. Born January 15, 1933 in Uhrichsville, she was a daughter of the late Thomas William and Edna Opal (Nelson) Price.

Esther was a resident of the Twin City area throughout her life and attended Dennison High School. On May 7, 1950, she wed Harley Butler Sr. with whom she enjoyed nearly 58 years of marriage until his passing on April 28, 2008. Esther was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker who enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and cooking as she cared for her family.

She will be deeply missed by her surviving family which includes her children, Darrell A. (Mary) Butler, Harley (Myrna) Butler Jr., and Kay M. (Greg) Simmons; grandchildren, Stephanie Ajanel, Darrell A. (Val) Butler Jr., Victoria (companion, Roberto Lopez) Santos, Ricky Recco Jr., Lindsey (Doug) Hendershot, and Evangeline Butler; many great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Ourant; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Michael R.  and Robert D. Butler; daughter-in-law, Joanne Butler; 2 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Irma Ferguson, Ruth Fantine, Marjorie Cosand, and Beatrice Schupp.

A 1:00 p.m. funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 5, at R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home, prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice.
