Erma Blanche Dunlap, 90, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Monday, July 6, 2015, at Akron City Hospital. Born October 31, 1924 in Gnadenhutten, she was a daughter of the late Ira Alvin and Lizzie Belle (Johnson) McMullen. The last of her generation, Erma was preceded in death by her siblings, Mary (Carl) Naylor and Denver, Cyril (Louella), Dale (Opal), and Hilton (Martha) McMullen.
On August 26, 1944, Erma married Richard Price Dunlap with whom she enjoyed nearly 28 years of marriage until his passing on May 3, 1972. They were blessed with three children, Vernon (Susan) Dunlap of New Philadelphia, and Linnie Alice Dunlap and Ray Dunlap who preceded her in death. Erma is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Susan Dunlap of Zanesville; grandchildren, Andrew (Heather) Dunlap, Megan (companion, Tyler) Dunlap, Amanda (companion, Josh) Dunlap, Jason (companion, Olivia) Broome, Robert (Sarah) Broome, and Andrew Broome; 10 great-grandchildren with 2 more expected; sister-in-law, Betty McMullen; and many nieces and nephews.
A 1942 graduate of Uhrichsville High School, Erma was a lifelong resident of the area. She was a member of Gnadenhutten Church of Christ and will be remembered for operating Dunlap Electric, along with her husband, for 40 years.
Services for Erma, officiated by Minister Robert Main, will be held at 11am on Friday, July 10, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow in West Union Cemetery near Gilmore. Visitation will be 5pm to 8pm on Thursday at the funeral home.
