Eric Scott Ueltschy, 62, a resident of Ocoee, Florida for the past 15 years, passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2023, in Winter Garden, Florida, following a brief illness. Born November 28, 1960 in Dennison, he was a son of the late Harold Thomas “Shotgun” and Molly Ann (Davis) Ueltschy.
Eric grew up in the Twin City area and attended Claymont High School as a member of the class of 1979. While still in high school, he began his long career as an auto mechanic – working for his mentor, Jim Long, at Jim’s Autobody in Uhrichsville. Later, he was employed by Lakeside Industries for many years before moving to Florida where he could fulfill his longtime dream of living near the ocean. He loved the outdoors and fishing, and he was also an accomplished woodworker.
He will be deeply missed by his surviving family which includes his siblings, Lori A. (David) Burdette, Kara M. Lankford, Michael T. (Jessica) Ueltschy, and Matthew D. (Julie) Ueltschy; Molly Ann (Brian) Johnson-Parrish whom he loved like a daughter and their children, Angelica, Isabella, Ethan, Ian, and Mason who lovingly called him “Grampy”; nieces and nephews, Nicole (Kenneth) Villwock, Justin Willis, Andrew Willis, Stephanie Lankford, Greyson (Destiny) Gomez-Lankford, Logan Ueltschy, Ethan Ross, Brandon Ross, Jordan (Macey) Ueltschy, Mitchell Ueltschy, and Mackenzi Ueltschy; many great-nieces and great-nephews, including a special great-niece, Kari; uncle and aunts, John and Midge Brainerd and Karla Grandison; numerous cousins; and his dear lifelong friend, Billy Hilliker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gertrude and Karl Griest, and uncles, Rusty Grandison and John “Boody” Griest.
Family and friends are invited to attend a noon graveside service, officiated by Pastor Kory Rowland, on Friday, June 2, in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery where Eric will be interred with his parents. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
