Emma Jane Edie, 92, of Bowerston passed away on September 7, 2014 at Bowerston Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation. Born November 11, 1921 she was a daughter of the late Arthur Franklin “Frank” and Ruby Pearl (Kepple) Cromer.

Emma graduated in 1940 from Cartersville High School in Missouri. She was a dedicated homemaker and dairy farmer wife, she enjoyed helping milk cows and perform other daily tasks on the farm. Also, she was a member of the Friendly Neighbor Club in Perrysville since 1945, served on the board of trustees nomination committee and was a member of Bowerston 1st UMC for many years. Loving crocheting and quilting, she made everyone in her family an afghan. Her greatest joy came from the time she spent with her grandchildren.

On January 8, 1943 she married Merle Baker Edie who preceded her in death on August 28, 1994. They are survived by their children, Saundra (Daniel) Decker of Carrollton, GA, Ronald (Donna) Edie, Dennis (Tina) Edie and Gregory (Jackie) Edie all of Bowerston; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Edie, Josephine Caswell, Millie Leger, Ellie Spellum; a brother-in-law, Dean Edie; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Linda Sue Edie; sisters, Fern Carter, Alberta Kallas, and Erlene Firth; sister-in-law, Maryann Edie; brother-in-law, Duane Edie and infant siblings, Butch, William and Nadine Cromer.

Services for Emma, officiated by Pastor Tom Dawson, will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Bowerston 1st UMC. Interment beside her beloved husband will follow at Bowerston’s Longview Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Those wishing to honor her memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Bowerston 1st UMC.
