Emanuel L. "Mike" Perry

April 4, 1944 — February 13, 2012

Emanuel L. “Mike” Perry, 67 of New Philadelphia, Ohio, passed away on Monday, Feb. 13, 2012 at Union Hospital in Dover, following a brief illness. Born April 4, 1944 in Highland Park, Michigan near Detroit, he was a son of the late Frederick and Eileen (Conroy) Perry.

After attending Romulus High School in Michigan, Mike proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1965. He was a resident of Tuscarawas County for many years, working as a self-employed general contractor in the oil field industry, as well as at Twin City Hospital. He attended New Philadelphia 1st United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Uhrichsville Moose who enjoyed bowling and hunting in his spare time.

On November 3, 1985, he married the former Mary Diane Hollis with whom he enjoyed nearly twenty-four years of marriage until her passing on October 18, 2009. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Autumn Perry. His surviving family includes a daughter, Terrie Woods; son, Michael Perry Cook; step-children, Kenny Baker, Slonia “Teresa” Page, Mary Beth Endsley, Michelle Haythorn, Charles Carpenter and Rusty Carpenter; thirty-one grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and his first wife, the former Alice Baker.

Services for Mike will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, February 17, at New Philadelphia 1st United Methodist Church, located at 201 W. High Street. Family and friends may call at the church from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Those wishing to honor his memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the Uhrichsville Moose Family Center.
