Elsie Alice Wenger

Elsie Alice Wenger, 93, of Dennison, was called home to the Lord on Thursday, October 22, 2015, from The Inn at Northwood Village in Dover. Born January 18, 1922 in Knolton, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late William James and Nancy Lee “Nannie” (Spencer) Conway. The last of her family’s generation, she was also preceded in death by brothers, Thaddeus, Henry, Elmer and Harold Conway, and sisters, Lettie Mae Wallace, Bertha Sparks, Ruby Arnold and Gladys Conway, as well as her husband, Joe Wenger, and daughter, Carol Wenger.

A lifelong resident of the area, Elsie was a 1939 graduate of Dennison High School and longtime member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church where she was active in the United Methodist Women and had held several church offices.

On November 3, 1946, Elsie married Joe Dempsey Wenger with whom she enjoyed over 61 years of marriage until his passing on January 27, 2008. She is survived by a daughter, Cindy (Jerry) Domer; granddaughters, Tami (Matt) Crecco, Misti (Dennis) Lint and Tiffany (Daniel) Sunde; great-grandchildren, Cara and Isabella Crecco, Micah and Hallie Lint, and Josiah Sunde; sisters-in-law, Goldie Shaw and Josephine “Dodie” Conway; and many nieces and nephews.

A private family service will be officiated by Pastor Daniel Sunde in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. At Elsie’s request, no public visitation is planned. Interment will follow in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery.
