Elsie L. Pounds

Elsie Lucille Pounds, 88, of Dennison, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at the Community Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia, following a period of declining health. Born December 24, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Martin Stephen and Lily Frances (Groves) Kamban.

Elsie was the loving mother of Steve A. Pounds and Perry L. (Sharon) Pounds who survive her along with her beloved grandsons, Angus Pounds, Nathan (Marcy) Pounds, and Cody Pounds, and great-grandson, Sean Levengood. She is also survived by her brother, Wayne Kamban; sisters, Wanda King and Barbara (Richard) McCoy; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Debbie Pounds; brothers, Donald and Dale; and sisters, Ethel and Betty.

A lifelong area resident, Elsie was employed by Garvin’s Farm Fresh Market in Dennison before working as a manager for the Uhrichsville, Dover, and New Philadelphia Lawson’s stores for many years. She had also worked for her brother, Don, at Schoenbrunn Gardens which tied in with her love of flower gardening and caring for her yard. She attended Park Christian Church and will be remembered for her love for her family. She especially treasured the holidays she spent with her sons and grandsons.

In keeping with Elsie’s wishes, cremation is planned without a public visitation or service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Ave. S.W., New Philadelphia, OH  44663.
