Eloise Marie Stoner

July 31, 1922 — October 6, 2014

Eloise Marie Stoner, 92, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2014, at Beacon Pointe Rehabilitation Center in Uhrichsville after a long period of declining health. Born July 31, 1922 in Uhrichsville, she was a daughter of the late William Portner and Edna Grace (Peffley) Stoner. The last of her family, she was also preceded in death by her beloved sisters, Thyra Oleen Stoner and Verna Lou Stoner. Eloise is survived by several cousins, including Gene (Anna Mary) Stoner of Pennsylvania; dear friends and neighbors, Ray and Sally Cottrell; and special friends from the Dover Bob Evans.

Eloise was a 1940 graduate of Uhrichsville High School and a 1944 graduate of Capital University. She began her long career as a high school Spanish teacher in Gnadenhutten before moving to Cleveland where she spent several decades living with her sister, Thyra, and teaching for Mentor Public Schools until her retirement in the 70s. She and her sisters loved to travel and were able to visit countries around the world together. Throughout her life, Eloise was an avid reader and a diehard Democrat. She was deeply Christian and had been a member of several area congregations.

In keeping with her wishes, Eloise has been cremated without a public visitation or service. She will be interred with her sisters and parents in Gnadenhutten’s Clay-Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.
