Ella Mae Heavilin

November 16, 1930 — March 29, 2011

Ella Mae Heavilin, 80, of Uhrichsville, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Aultman Hospital in Canton after a sudden illness. Born November 16, 1930 in Dennison, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late John J. and Martha E. (Gatchell) Heavilin.

Ella was a 1949 graduate of Uhrichsville High School before being employed by Dennison Pottery. Her main career was at Fab Ohio in Uhrichsville where she worked for many years until her retirement in the early 90’s. Ella was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt whose family meant the world to her. Her grandchildren will always have fond memories of the happy times they spent at her home and the fun games of gin rummy that they shared.

Ella is survived by two brothers, Jack P. (Mary) Heavilin of New Philadelphia and Harry L. (Suzie) Heavilin of Uhrichsville; her sister, Nancy A. Heavilin with whom she had resided; a sister-in-law, Betty Jane Heavilin of New Philadelphia; a daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Heavilin of Uhrichsville; four grandchildren, Bill (Katie) Heavilin, Jr. of Solon, Brian (Teresa) Heavilin of Berea, Brad Heavilin of Uhrichsville, and Heather (Luke) Sigler of Uhrichsville; six great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Natalie Heavilin of Solon, Kirra and Gavin Heavilin of Berea, and Rachel Aeris Eberly and Kasey Sigler of Uhrichsville; an aunt, Marie Heavilin of Bowerston; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, William J. Heavilin; two sisters, Elsie Heavilin who passed just a week earlier and Wava Heavilin; two brothers, Terry L. and Jesse J. Heavilin; and a nephew, Randy Heavilin.

Services for Ella, officiated by Rev. Mark Unrue, will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. A reception will be held in the fellowship hall of Uhrichsville Presbyterian Church immediately following the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ella’s family in care of the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home to help defray the cost of her final expenses.
