Elizabeth Frances “Libby” Besozzi, 97, of Uhrichsville, O., was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 23, 2010 from Twin City Hospital in Dennison, O.
Born in Wainwright, O. on November 11, 1912, she was a daughter of the late Donato and Adele (Balzarini) Besozzi and a lifelong resident of the area.
Libby was a waitress at Bonvechio’s Restaurant in Wainwright from its opening until her retirement in 1984. She was known for her ability to take all of the orders for each of her tables by memory and deliver each and every order correctly, even though she never wrote anything down.
She was a longtime member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Wainwright until its closing and was then a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison for the remainder of her life. At both parishes, she was active in the Altar Society. She was also a member of the Uhrichsville Eagles Ladies’ Auxiliary and enjoyed being a part of several card clubs.
The last of her generation, Libby was preceded in death by four brothers, Louis, Tony, Angelo and Lawrence Besozzi, and four sisters, Rose Masnaghetti, Margaret D’Agnone, Bridget Robinson, and Julia Schulze, in addition to her parents. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews, as well as a great-great-great niece and a host of dear friends.
A memorial mass, officiated by Father Anthony Lonzo, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 1, in Immaculate Conception Church. In keeping with Libby’s wishes, she has been cremated without a public visitation. She will be interred with her parents at Calvary Cemetery in New Philadelphia. Those wishing to honor her memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Immaculate Conception Church’s Memorial Book Fund, in lieu of flowers.
