Edward Alan Halsey Sr., 77, of Dennison, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Ohio’s Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia, Ohio, after a period of declining health. Born January 22, 1949 in Dover, Ohio, he was a son of the late Benjamin Forest and Anna Mae (née Murray) Halsey.
A lifelong Tuscarawas County resident, Ed had worked for Amco for over 20 years before his retirement. A man who could fix anything, he loved tinkering and working on cars, and he had even fully remodeled his home singlehandedly. He enjoyed spending time with his friends at the Uhrichsville Eagles and Uhrichsville Moose, as well as watching NASCAR and riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
On November 28, 1976, Ed married the former Carol Sue Wilson who survives him at their home. He is also survived by their children, Kim (Dan) Terrion and Michael (Donna) Opphile; grandchildren, Amanda (Chad) Carney, Ashley (Michael) Kennedy, Jason (Barry) Cearley-Opphile, and Lauren (Adam) Lefler; and great-grandchildren, Kimber, Katie, Kelly, Payton, Lilly, Dominic, Jakiya, and Hunter. Ed’s surviving family is completed by his brother, William (companion, Helen Harshey) Halsey, and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Roy Halsey Sr. and Beverly Rose.
In keeping with Ed’s wishes, he will be cremated prior to his interment in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery where a graveside service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, July 30th. Those wishing to honor his memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to their local hospice provider, in lieu of flowers.
