Edna Mae Warner

Edna Mae Warner, 91, of Uhrichsville, Ohio, passed away while surrounded by her loved ones, on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012 at Beacon Pointe Rehabilitation Center in Uhrichsville, after a lengthy illness. Born May 7, 1920 in Conneaut, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Daniel Harrison and Hazel Ella (Kellogg) McCollister.

On August 29, 1942, Edna married Harry Franklin Warner with whom she enjoyed over forty-five years of marriage until his passing on Feb. 7, 1988. They are survived by a son, Leonard (Linda) Warner of Uhrichsville; a daughter, Sandra (William “Gene”) Avon of Uhrichsville; grandchildren, Bob (Amy) Avon of Elyria, Scott (Rhonda) Avon, Connie (Scott) Beckley, Tim (Lisa) Avon, Shannon (companion, Tom Fantin) Allmen, Doug (Lori) Warner, Kimberly (Curt) Armstrong and Stacy (Christopher) Turney, all of Uhrichsville and James (Chasity) Warner of Dennison; and twenty-eight great-grandchildren with another great-grandchild expected. Edna is also survived by two sisters, Myrtle Legg and Vera Bartholomew of Uhrichsville; a sister-in-law, Viola McCollister of Malvern; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Scott; brothers, Clarence, Charles, Harvey and Roy McCollister; and sisters, Alice Petrides and Neva McCollister.

A resident of Uhrichsville for most of her life, Edna was a longtime member of the Dennison Church of God. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker, and had worked for Ruger Equipment for a time, as well as being a Stanley Home Dealer for many years. She was a member of the Twin City Senior Citizens who enjoyed sewing and gardening. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially when she would attend her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s wrestling matches.

Services for Edna, officiated by Pastor Dean Teal, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 22, in the Dennison Church of God. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens in Dover. Family and friends are invited to call at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 21. Those wishing to honor Edna’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the Dennison Church of God.
