March 26, 1929 — November 13, 2022

Edmond August Zwick, Jr., 93, of Tuscarawas, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2022, at his home. Born March 26, 1929 in Zanesville, Ohio, he was the only child of the late Edmond August Zwick, Sr. and Frances J. (Daugherty) Zwick.

Ed grew up in Zanesville and was the Valedictorian of St. Thomas Aquinas High School’s class of 1948. He later attended The Ohio State University’s Zanesville campus for electrical engineering. He proudly served his country as a radio operator in the Marine Corps during the Korean War and was one of the “Frozen Chosin” who returned from combat on the Freedom Train. He was a Life Member of the V.F.W. and was a longtime member at the Tuscarawas Post. Ed enjoyed a long career as an electrician, including a number of years as a lineman for Ohio Power, and retired from General Tire in Newcomerstown. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. In his spare time, he was an avid gardener and enjoyed watching gameshows. Most of all, he delighted in spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. A resident of Tuscarawas for 50 years, he was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison for many years.

On June 2, 1956, Ed married the former Ora Lee Adams who survives him at their home. He is also survived by their children, Rose Zwick, Dan (Ada) Zwick, Anne (fiancé, Alan Bliss) Hart, Sharon (Tim) Kalp, Katy Zwick, and Amy Zwick, 22 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Christy Mackey.

Father Jeff Coning will celebrate the funeral Mass at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 18, at Immaculate Conception Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the Parkinson’s Foundation.
