Edith H. Finegan, 95, of Dennison, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2011 at Trinity Hospital Twin City in Dennison after a brief illness. Born May 13, 1916 in Sardis, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Albert B. and Eliza (Farmer) Schoonover.

A resident of Dennison for the past twelve years, Edith had previously lived in Cleveland for fifty years, as well as in the Akron and Cuyahoga Falls area for a time. While living in Cleveland, she was employed by Fisher Foods for many years.

Edith is survived by her three children, Isabel Richards of Cleveland, Carol Kochte of Dennison, and Franklin Finegan and his wife, Diane, of Placerville, California; twenty grandchildren; numerous great-, great-great-, and great-great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Finegan; a daughter, Shirley Pearce and her husband, Jeff; her husband, Harold L. “Dick” Finegan; and five siblings.

In keeping with Edith’s wishes, she has been cremated without a public visitation. She will be interred beside her daughter, Shirley, in Cleveland. A memorial service and celebration of her life is planned in the spring. Those wishing to honor Edith’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the Salvation Army.
