Earl Lyman Clouse, Jr.

Earl Lyman Clouse, Jr., 81, of Uhrichsville, went home to be with The Lord on Saturday, October 17, 2009.



Born May 25, 1928, he was a son of the late Earl Lyman Clouse, Sr. and Helen Virginia (Cary) Clouse.



A lifelong resident of our area, Earl had been a member of the New Philadelphia First Church of the Nazarene and a 32nd Degree Mason with the Mystic Tie Lodge #194 F. and A. M. Earl attended Uhrichsville High School before enlisting in the U.S. Navy where he proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. Earl had been a member of the Tuscarawas V.F.W.



In 1983, Earl retired from the Uhrichsville Fire Department where he had worked as a fireman for many years. Following his retirement from the fire department, Earl worked as a ranger for the M.W.C.D., as a security guard for Marlite, and for Hire 55. Earl had also been the owner of the former Pla-Mor Bowling Alley in Uhrichsville. Earl loved spending time with his family, making jokes and easily getting everyone laughing. Earl also enjoyed fishing and golfing.



On September 17, 1971, Earl married JoAnn (Pounds) who survives him at their home in Uhrichsville. Earl’s other surviving family include six children, Cathy Clouse-Manin of Dennison, Debbie and husband Jerry McNealy of Dennison, Annette and husband Calvin Currence of Tippecanoe, Michael and wife Linda Clouse of Uhrichsville, Carla Fondriest of Uhrichsville, and Pam and husband Mark Millburn of Uhrichsville; thirteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; brother, James F. Clouse of Key Largo, FL; sister, Virginia and husband Stan Garabrandt of New Philadelphia; and numerous nieces and nephews, including a special nephew Scott Clouse of Uhrichsville whom Earl and JoAnn helped raise.



In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by brothers Alpha E. and Robert J. Clouse, and sisters Judith D. Stout and Betty J. Howd.



A funeral service for Earl, officiated by Dr. Fred L. Wallis, will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at 11:00 am in the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Internment will follow in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery.



Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, October 20, 2009, during which time a Masonic Memorial service will be held at 7:30 pm. Those wishing to may make a memorial donation in Earl’s memory are encouraged to do so to the New Philadelphia First Church of the Nazarene, 233 Fair Ave., New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
