Dorothy Lucille Stanley, 96, of Dennison, passed away on Friday, July 9, 2021, at the Community Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia. Born December 13, 1924 in Dennison, she was the last surviving child of the late Erminio “Emmett” Joseph and Emelia Asunta (Fondriest) Chini, having been preceded in death by her siblings, Mary (Oscar) Lint, Henry (Ann) Chini, David Chini, and her sister and best friend, Alma (Ed) Maculaitis.
Dorothy was a lifelong Dennison resident and a 1943 graduate of Dennison High School. During World War II, she did her part on the home front by working at Westinghouse and Goodyear. She will be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother who loved caring for her family. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and its Altar Society throughout her life.
On May 18, 1946, Dorothy married the love of her life, Philip Roland Stanley, with whom she enjoyed nearly 70 years of marriage until his passing on March 4, 2016. They are survived by two daughters, Lori (Dale) Burkholder and Nina (Joe) DeMonte; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Gardner, Julie (Eric) Swartz, Philip (Sarah) Burkholder, Rollie (Jeannie) DeMonte, Jamie (Leah) DeMonte, Adam (Audrey) DeMonte, and Miranda DeMonte; 12 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Father Tom Gardner will celebrate the funeral Mass on Monday, July 12, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery near Dennison beside her beloved husband. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Immaculate Conception Church, Immaculate Conception Elementary, and Community Hospice.
