Dorothy Jean Rine, 77, of Port Washington, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2016, at The Cleveland Clinic. Born March 23, 1939 in Freeport, she was a daughter of the late Edison Gail “Jack” and Dorothy Virginia (Millikin) Stevens. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Jesse E. Abel, Jr.; her second husband, Elmer L. Rine; 2 great-grandchildren; and a nephew.
Dorothy was a lifelong resident of the area, a graduate of Freeport High School, and an employee of Harcatus for nearly 40 years, having begun her career with them in 1974. She is survived by her children, Gail (Mike) Davis, Charlene (companion, Mike Hamilton) Abel, Mark Abel, and Lisa (Paul) Murray; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Judy Williams; brother, David Stevens; 2 nieces; and a nephew. She will also be sadly missed by her beloved dog, Tank.
Services, officiated by Rev. Carolyn Behrendt, will be held at noon on Monday, January 2, 2017, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison with visitation for two hours prior to the service. She will be interred in Freeport’s Greenmont Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Twin City Christian Service Center.
