Doris G. Wright, 92, of Uhrichsville, O., passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at Beacon Pointe Rehabilitation Center in Uhrichsville, following a period of declining health.

Born November 8, 1916 in Dennison, O., she was a daughter of the late Orva E. and Edna Susan (Parks) Rea.

A resident of the Twin City area for much of her life, Doris had also lived in North Dakota and Wheaton, Ill. from 1962 to 1981. She was a graduate and the valedictorian of Dennison High School in the class of 1934 and a member Park Christian Church in Dennison.

On January 23, 1937, Doris married Francis David “Cappy” Wright with whom she enjoyed over sixty-seven years of marriage until his passing on September 19, 2004. They are survived by a daughter, Mrs. Jack (Lynda) Beckley of Dennison; a son, Dr. Thomas R. Wright and his wife, Arline, of Muskegon, Mich.; five grandchildren, Dr. Thomas C. Wright and his wife, Tracey, Cynthia R. Boyd, Mrs. Tom (Kelly S.) Martinelli, Mrs. Patrick (Kathleen A.) O’Brien and Mrs. Robert (Kimberly L.) Marron; and eight great grandchildren, Tanner and Grant Boyd, Taylor and Victoria Wright, Alex and Taylor Martinelli, and John “Jack” and Mairin O’Brien.

Doris is also survived by two nephews and numerous great nieces and great nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Ralph (Shirley) Crites.

Doris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, who loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed playing cards with her friends in several area card clubs.

Services for Doris, officiated by Rev. Harry Milligan, will be held on Tuesday, October 13, at 10:00 a.m. in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Interment will follow in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery.

Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning. Those wishing to honor her memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so Hospice of Tuscarawas County, the American Red Cross, Park Christian Church, or the charity of their choice.
