Doris Irene Aldergate

Doris Irene Aldergate, 88, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2014, at Aultman Hospital in Canton, after suffering a fall. Born May 3, 1925 in Uhrichsville, she was a daughter of the late David William and Lillie S. (Murray) McBeth.

A 1944 graduate of Uhrichsville High School, Doris was a resident of Uhrichsville throughout her life. She was a longtime member of the Dennison Church of God where she served on the church council and benevolence committee, a volunteer at the Twin City Christian Service Center and Twin City Hospital Coffee Bar, and a faithful volunteer for any charity or cause in her community that she could help. In addition to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, she also worked as the office manager for the A & P grocery store for 23 years and as a cashier and bookkeeper at Peoples Drug for 10 years.

On October 19, 1953, she married Louis E. Aldergate with whom she enjoyed nearly 49 years of marriage until his passing on March 14, 2002. They are survived by two daughters, Kim (Tim) Henry of Tappan and Karen Morrow of Tappan; grandchildren, Doug (Becky) Henry and Louis Vosick; great-grandchildren, A.J. and Cameron Henry and Gauge and Gavin Vosick; Doris is also survived by a brother, Floyd D. McBeth of Bolivar; a sister, Lillian M. (Al) Chek of New Philadelphia; brothers and sisters in law, Clara Hinig of New Philadelphia, Jack (Bev) Aldergate of New Philadelphia, and Rich Heston of Tuscarawas; loving friend, Clarise Murry of Uhrichsville; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a sister, Janice Shirley; a brother, Roy McBeth; and a granddaughter, Sabrina Vosick.

There will be no public visitation for Doris. A private family service will be held at a later date.
