Dora Ann Torch

Dora Ann Torch, 81, of Dennison, passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at New Dawn Retirement Community in Dover. Born March 4, 1937 in Port Washington, she was a daughter of the late John W. and Olive Amanda (Wires) Tharp.

On October 25, 1958, Dora married James Vincent Torch, Jr. with whom she enjoyed nearly 52 years of marriage until his passing on August 19, 2010. They are survived by a daughter, Lori Kosegi; sons, Jim Torch, III and Mark (Anne) Torch; grandchildren, Meagan Torch, James Torch, IV, Natalie (Jake) Burdette, Amanda (Chad) Beatty, Mark C. Torch, and Mikki (David Beatty) McCue; great-grandchildren, Dawson, Aiden, Bentley, Riggs, Marissa, Jakyha, David, Mya, and Jostin; and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mandy Miller; granddaughter, Brittany Torch; great-grandson, C.J. Brown, Jr.; five brothers; and six sisters.

Dora was a 1955 graduate of Tuscarawas High School. In addition to being a loving wife, mother and homemaker, she had worked for area restaurants and eventually retired from the Multi County Juvenile Attention Center. She enjoyed volunteering for numerous organizations while raising her children, including Little League, Band, Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts. In later years, she enjoyed playing bingo and doing crafts. She was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison.

Father Tyron Tomson will celebrate the funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 15, in Immaculate Conception Church. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband in St. Mary’s Cemetery near Dennison. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Church’s Memorial Book Fund.
