Donald Gary Shock, 70, of Beach City, Ohio, passed away at his home on Saturday, March 8, 2025, of an apparent heart attack. Born August 15, 1954 in Grantsville, West Virginia, he was a son of the late William McDonald Shock and Pearl (Tucker) Shock.
A Beach City resident for much of his life, Don was the loving husband of Deanna Michelle (Haney) Shock whom he married on October 21, 2006. Deanna survives him along with daughters, LeeAnn (Aaron) Baus and Katelyn Smitley; treasured grandson, Nicholas Baus; his brother and sister-in-law, Duane and Jeanette Riffle; brother- and sisters-in-law, Robert and Chris Haney and Angel Burdette; parents-in-law, Nancy and Robert Tharp and Jean Haney; several nieces and nephews; and his faithful canine companion, Sam. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Bradley; daughter, Teresa; brother, David Riffle; and father-in-law, Robert Haney.
Don was employed by Nickles Bakery in Navarre for many years. In his spare time, he loved fishing, going to flea markets and auctions, gardening, and working (or some might say playing) in his wood shed. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family – especially his daughters and grandson who meant the world to him. He and Deanna also enjoyed their frequent trips to West Virginia over the years.
According to Don’s wishes, cremation is planned without public visitation. His family will celebrate his life on a later date. Those wishing to honor his memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 and Akron Children’s Foundation, One Perkins Square, Akron, OH 44308-1062, in lieu of flowers.
