Donald Coen, 59, of Dennison, Ohio died Saturday, July 23, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center in Canton, Ohio after a lengthy illness. Born January 4, 1952 in Gnadenhutten, Ohio, he was a son of the late James Jacob and Dorothy May (McKaine) Coen.
A lifelong resident of Tuscarawas County, Donald was a retired owner/operator who had enjoyed driving truck for many years as his career. He also loved anything to do with cars, trucks, and motorcycles, and was a great mechanic with a real passion for building race cars.
Donald leaves behind his wife of twenty-five years, the former Sharon Ann Rodriguez; two sons, Donald “Duck” Coen and his fiancée, Bobbi Jo, of Tuscarawas and Michael Coen of Dennison; three daughters, Michaela Coen of New Philadelphia, Carry Hammoud and her husband, Mohammed, of Michigan, and Deanna Coen of Michigan; many grandchildren; seven siblings, Alice May Jones and her husband, Harry, of Uhrichsville, Timothy J. Coen and his wife, Becky, of Uhrichsville, James “Tink” Coen and his wife, Cindy, of Uhrichsville, Mick Coen and his wife, Penny, of Dennison, Karl McMullen and his wife, Carla, of Gilmore, Patricia Milburn of Uhrichsville, and Darlene McPeek; a sister-in-law, Patty McMullen of Dennison; numerous nieces and nephews;and his dearest friend, Johnny Jones.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Matthew Patterson; a sister, Nancy Beal; and two brothers, Jimmy Junior Coen and Earl McMullen.
Services for Donald, officiated by Pastor Leonard Porter, will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
